Squirrels, Moles and Bats

Other Mammal Pests

Squirrels

In the UK there are two species of squirrel: the endangered red squirrel which are now only found in pine forests such as Formby, Delamere and Scotland and the more common Grey squirrel.

To deal with squirrel problems they must be trapped. As such when we find Red Squirrels in the traps they are immediately released back into the local area (away from the house in question) and advice is given on how to manage the problem in the future.

Grey Squirrels on the other hand are counted as an Invasive Species and cannot be released back into the wild as such they must be humanely euthanised.

We offer over the phone advice free of charge. If we need to survey the problem starting there will be a survey charge of £20.

We would advise a minimum of three site visits to eradicate the problem at a cost of £25 each visit. In this case the £20 survey fee will be deducted from the overall cost.

Please note: this is for a basic service, any proofing of houses, outbuildings, shops etc will incur an additional cost.

Moles

Moles are nocturnal and spend almost their entire life underground, only coming to the surface to hunt or gather nesting material.

It is incredibly hard to figure out how many moles there are in a given area due to the fact that the mole hills you see (in essence spoil heaps from their digging activities) can be from a single industrious mole or from a number of moles.

While moles are generally harmless they can cause untold problems in gardens with their digging activities.

The only way to solve a mole problem is to survey the area (sometimes using smoke to identify exits) and then to trap them.

Rabbits

Rabbits are everywhere! As for moles they can cause untold havoc in a tidy garden, eating all your precious and lovingly tended to plants and flowers.

As for moles we use smoke to identify entry/exit holes and then trap the offenders.

Bats

In the UK we have a number of bat species including the pipistrelle, noctule and greater horseshoe bats.

ALL bat species are protected by law and it is illegal to disturb or allow them to be disturbed in any way. This means that we are unable to remove the bats but we CAN give advice on how to live with them instead.
