Rats and Mice

Basic Information

Rats and mice are by far the most common pests we are asked to deal with.

Anywhere where there is food and shelter is attractive to these rodents, meaning that our homes, garages and sheds are ideal.

Signs of mice and rats are often as simple as noticing a hole dug underneath walls or flagstones about the size of a tennis ball for rats or a ping pong ball for mice, traces of droppings (rats droppings look like black torpedoes and tapered at each end while mice droppings are similar but smaller), food packets chewed through, signs of gnawing/chewing on wiring and woodwork and dark, greasy smudgemarks arlong walls (particularly near to holes).

If you see any of these traces it is important to contact a pest control service such as ourselves in order to treat the problem before it escalates.

Methods of Control

We use spring loaded traps placed in protective containers/cages.

In situations where there is a serious infestation and a risk to public health, domestic/agricultural animals, food or property we will put into place a detailed programme of baiting for a limited time.

Other methods may also be considered such as drain inspections, proofing of buildings, removal of rubbish, good housekeeping advice etc.

A monitoring programme may also be advised where appropriate.

Costs:

We offer over the phone advice free of charge. If we need to survey the problem starting there will be a survey charge of £20.

We would advise a minimum of three site visits to eradicate the problem at a cost of £25 each visit. In this case the £20 survey fee will be deducted from the overall cost.

Please note: this is for a basic service, any proofing of houses, outbuildings, shops etc will incur an additional cost.
